In This Mountain Where The Sun Shines Through, 2008

Installation  Performance (Fresh turf, 3 circular fences, top soil, mats, rubber sheets, paint) 250cm x 250cm x 30cm each grass area

‘In This Mountain Where The Sun Shines Through’ was developed as a site-specific work at The New Art Gallery Walsall as part of their residency programme, during her time there in the summer of 2008 Lee viewed the gallery as a mountain and her presence as a resident sheep. In a view of re-creating the experience of encountering sheep in the mountains Lee made a series of grassy areas for visitors to relax, contemplate and explore the gallery environment, bringing the outside environment in. Milee The Sheep’s performance consisted of actions of tending for and watering the fresh turf in each of the three green spots inside the gallery.
